Get rid of the rivets!

Plates are fantastic BUT have a significant flaw. They have four rivets that prevent the entire plate from fitting in the Rep stand. Would be amazing if this is addressed down the line. The 1.25s don't have this problem.

Make sure to watch their tutorials on YouTube and Instagram for how attach and remove. If you jiggle them, they pop in and out very easy.

Great Add with Room to Improve

Love these add-on plates for the Reppins! Easy to change with just a little bit of muscle put into removing them. I purchased the 1.25 lb, 2.5 lb and magnetic 1.25 lb (I think technically for Nuobells?) in order to be able to add incrementally in 2.5 lb jumps. Thank you for offering a great solution for this!

Great as they are, there's always room for improvement, so here we go:

1) Reducing the protruding bolts that go through the plates (or better yet, producing single-piece plates that don't need bolts to begin with like the 2.5s that come with the Reppins) would be excellent!! The finish on the Reppins scratch up/chip VERY easily, so the smoother any surfaces that could contact them can be, the better (especially when you need to wiggle these plates so much to remove them). Also, the bolts prevent the 2.5s from fitting into the storage on the Rep stand for the Reppins.

2) This one is NOT specific to the 2.5s, but to the solution provided to jury rig 3.75s using the magnetic 1.25s added to the 2.5s (see pic). It was mentioned somewhere that 3.75s were not feasible due to size/width not fitting. Why in the world not? If the magnetic 1.25s + 2.5s work, there's no reason single-piece 3.75s with the same asymmetric profile couldn't be created (the extra weight bumped out on the top for a wider width up there, exactly where the magnetic 1.25s currently go and with a grab hole through the middle like with the regular 1.25s and 2.5s). Sure, the resulting weight would offset to the top of the dumbbells, but so what? That's exactly what the current solution does and it works just fine. Added benefit is extra safety of have a single, solid piece instead of 1.25s that just magnetically attach AND less scratching of the finish (I've noticed the magnetic 1.25s scratch up any finish they're stuck to). Would love to see single-piece 3.75s for the Reppins!

Awesome Addition!!

These work perfectly. Such a great upgrade over the add on plates that come with the dumbbells. Customer service is top notch as well. Can't recommend these enough!

Great idea

These add on weights are a great idea and I’ve been sitting on this review because I really wanted to like these… but I don’t. Main problem is the rivets. The rivets scratch the inside of the dumbbells. I know I can can’t expect my workout equipment to stay pristine, but the inside of the dumbbells is not an area that normally gets scratched up like that. Additionally, the rivets are too thick and prevent me from using the storage solution on the rep stand. This means I would need to figure out a different storage solution. Lastly, the add ons don’t come on and off very easily. Videos have come out on this, and rocking the weights side to side does work, but the initial reason I bought these was to be a faster and more convenient alternative to the current add on weights. Plus rocking adds to the scratching i mentioned earlier. Again, I REALLY wanted to like these because the idea is great, but functionally they just don’t do it for me. If these things don’t matter to you, then take my review with a grain of salt, but these are deal breakers for me.

Fantastic Product

These add-on plates are far superior to the ones you get from REP, mostly because of the spring locking mechanism that allows them to go in flush and not have a ring or pop pin protruding into the handle. Excellent product!

The Plates That Rep Should Have Developed

These plates are exactly what Rep should have developed in the first place, rather than their intrusive pop pin solution. Quick and easy to use. These can also be used with Repins + Spot Grips.

They work, but…

I thought these would be magnetic like their other adjustable dumbbell add-on plates. Instead, they’re held in place with a very strong spring element which makes them difficult to remove without pulling the entire dumbbell out of the cradle. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue using these, as they don’t offer much benefit over the stock plate experience.
